Each half sheet has a simple fold attached to the front that contains a map (reduced on the photocopier) from the Story of the World v. 2 Activity Book, as well as a brief narration on the topic inside. Sample narration: "The Byzantine Empire was the Eastern half of the Roman Empire. At first, the Byzantine Empire was very small. It occupied Constantnople and some of the land around it. Eventually, the Byzantine Empire included most of the land that had once belonged to Rome."

Middle Ages lapbook, Islam half-sheet open

Each half sheet opens to show 3 or 4 mini-books on the cover topic. Here you can see the inside of the Islamic Empire half sheet.

Middle

Each half sheet is attached to the main lapbook by a paper hinge. The half sheets lift up to reveal other mini-books that did not fit together to make a single half sheet. Here you can see the Byzantine Empire sheet flipped up to reveal mini-books on medieval literature.
